46 94 toner med zink toneplater og stålstemmer, to kor, oktavstemt, a=431. Ti store basstemmer i egne kamre.

Tyske konsertinaer fantes knapt I Norge før krigen.

46  94 tones with zinc reedplates and steel reeds, two voices, octave tuned, a=431. Ten large bass reeds in separate chambers. Bone keys with mother of pearl shirt button eyes. Inside Ernst Arnold has signed his name with pencil on both sides, and the dates 14 and 15 November 1897.

Ernst Luis Arnold (1838-1910) was foreman at Carl Friedrich Zimmermann’s (1817-1898) harmonica factory in Carlsfeld and took over the business when Zimmermann emigrated to USA in 1864. When he died his three sons continued and expanded the production in two separate companies: ELA (Ernst Louis’s oldest son Ernst Herman (1859-1946) and AA (the two younger sons Paul (1866-1952) and Alfred (1878-1933)). The Arnold factories in Carlsfeld became the major source of exported tango bandoneons.

This well used concertina was bought by musician Arne Moslåtten at an auction in the Norwegian countryside in the 1980’s.  It could have come to Norway with a German soldier during the war, which was not unusual. German concertinas and bandonions were not common in Norway at the time.
